    Sweet Valley Organics

Are you a locavore? The Modern is! It is our goal to use local producers whenever possible. Local producers help us create a seasonally inspired menu, which is fresh and just plain tasty. Today Sweet Valley Organics   delivered a beautiful batch of mushrooms, so I thought I would share them with you. The Modern will use these yummy fresh mushrooms in items like our  delicious Tartins and Crispy Polenta.

We all want to eat better, smarter and eating local produce from producers who grow it is a great way to make eating good food even more pleasurable.

Check out Sweet Valley Organics at the Capital City Public Market  which is open every Saturday, April 21—December 22, .  Or come down to the Modern Hotel and have them cooked just right.

    Cheers!

  • Modern Artists not confined to their rooms!

    April 12th, 2012 by webAdmin

Modern Art 2012 at the Modern Hotel
    May 3rd from 5-10p.m.

For the last 4 years Modern Art at the Modern Hotel has happened on the First Thursday in May. Back in 2008, Michal Lloyd, the Manager of the Modern Hotel, thought it would be fun to turn over the Hotel to some artists for the night. So she asked a few friends and Modern family to choose a room and do something creative with it. Since that low key event was overwhelmingly poplar, with over 1,000 people nights have included a Modern Fishing installation by Sean Aucutt and Bob Neal, Poet Adrian Klien madly banging out poems on demand on his typewriter from various perches and Josie Fretwell and Rachel Reichart’s Fur Donut Shop in the kitchen, complete with tough talking counter gals.

You were right, Michal, it IS fun!

Take a look below at some of our past favorites, and make sure you check all the cracks and crevices around the Modern this year at ModArt12!
